How to Avoid Being Bridezilla
Being bridezilla is no fun for anyone, including you, your groom, your bridal party, or your friends and family. Your wedding day should be a day filled with happiness and good memories. If you are too busy being bridezilla, your day may be filled with angry words, horrible memories, and hurt feelings.
Start with your budget. Whenever you and your fiance decide to get married, the first thing you should do is figure out how much money you have to spend on the wedding. It is easy to get your hopes up for an elaborate wedding and then realize you don't have enough money to pay for it. This is when bridezilla starts to come out.
Step 2
Decide what you definitely must have at your wedding. If you love roses and have always wanted them at your wedding, then don't settle for less. If you always wanted a sit down dinner at your reception, then have a sit down dinner. Make a list of your must-haves, and put them in order of importance. Then work your budget around those. For example, if you have roses in your bouquet, maybe the altar flowers can have less expensive types. You can avoid being bridezilla with careful planning and by not feeling disappointed on your wedding day.
Step 3
Plan, plan, and plan some more. Most brides who turn into bridezillas are particular about their likes and dislikes. They pay attention to details, and they expect other people to pay attention also. If you know you have this type of personality, then plan every detail down to the minute. On your wedding day, where are you supposed to be at 9:02 a.m.? Who is supposed to drive you there? Who is supposed to be with you? Plan all these details, and then confirm these plans with the people who are involved a few days in advance.
Step 4
Confirm all details a week before the wedding. Call your officiant, your wedding planner, your reception hall, your limo driver, and so on. Leave nothing to chance. The best way to avoid becoming bridezilla is to make sure the day will go as smoothly as possible.
Step 5
Make sure you have your marriage license. Don't forget this important detail. It can make the calmest brides upset if there is no marriage license.
Step 6
Try your dress on with all your undergarments at least two weeks before the wedding, then again a week before the wedding, and finally the night before. Your weight may fluctuate from nerves, your menstrual cycle and travel. It is better to have a seamstress fix your dress the night before the wedding than an hour before, even though neither one is the perfect scenario. Follow these steps, and you will avoid any bridezilla episodes on your wedding day.
